Today…Anything is possible. All our dreams can become reality. The World Series is this Fall and we will have the last win of the season. We have faith in our favorite players. And even if we didn’t we would cheer for the laundry. As the saying goes, it matters less what the name on the back of your jersey is, than the front. We won our first game today against the Cincinnati Reds. Only 161 more until the post season. I’m not delusional. I’m not drunk. I’m a San Francisco Giants fan buzzed on optimism after a really promising Spring Training.
But I will admit some truths. Some awkward. Some painful. Some kinda funny:
It is impossible to make a bobblehead of Logan Webb that doesn’t look like the old man from UP. It’s the chin
We gave up on Barry Bonds when he had a few seasons left in him.
Damn! Buster Posey retired young! He’s only 38. I’m grateful to have him in the front office, but I miss him on the field.
We’re still a little weak behind the plate since Buster retired.
Our mascot’s name is Lou Seal. Names that contain puns are the best names.
Oracle Park is the best stadium in MLB.
Today as I watched the game I was as giddy and hopeful as a kid waking up on Christmas morning. And I can keep feeling that way if the Giants keep winning, and don’t become characters in the legendary story of the Dodgers and Shohei Ohtani.
